We start at the Tourist Point of Contact in the centre of Žiri and take a walk to the oldest part of Žiri. From there, we go past the Old School and ascend to Breznica, one of the villages which seceded from the homeland after WW1. The scenic route along the Rapallo border offers nice views with border stones along it testifying to the past. At Breznica we walk past St Cantius Church to the cavern; we get to know the “barufa” (resistance) of Breznica and “kontrabant” (smuggling). We end the trip with a tour of the brewery and a tasting of homemade beer (Duck). The descent back to Žiri follows.

The hiking tour is 5 km long, easy and suitable for families.
